Book I: Ayahuasca, Iquitos and Monster Vorax
Originally published in 2015, this first book in the series is set in the early days of the ayahuasca boom in Iquitos. The story unfolds through the experiences of a diverse cast of characters: several ayahuasca tourists, village healers turned “shamans,” an American doctor with a bold epigenetic theory, and local patients who claim to have been bewitched or who want to find a partner. Ayahuasca, Iquitos, and Monster Vorax captures the effervescence of another “bonanza” moment in the Amazon and relates it to other extractive processes that have taken place throughout history.

Initially, the Ayahuasca, Iquitos and Monster Vorax book series had a price of 10 dollars. Although it's now freely accessible, fieldwork still costs money. If you've enjoyed these two books and want to see a third installment, I encourage you to make a donation for the original price. There are many new things to tell, and I also want to know what will have become of Ron Wheelock, of Juan Curico, of the million-dollar business, of the long-suffering Banisteriopsis.
